John David Welsh
July 20, 1977 - January 4, 2008
John David Welsh was born the sixth child to loving parents Jo Ann Welsh (daughter of George Watson Lynn and Katherine Louise Lynn both deceased) and Raymond Harold Welsh (son of John William Welsh and Alice Ramona Welsh, both deceased) on July 20, 1977 in San Francisco, California. John’s family moved to Sacramento, California where in the next eleven years John learned to walk, talk, corral chickens and was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the age of eight by his father Raymond.
In 1992, his family relocated to Mead, Washington (near Spokane, Washington) where John cultivated a love for fishing with his dad and participated in scouting. During this time John also developed a loving brotherly relationship with his nephew Derek, who lived with the family. John chose to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and received a two-year call to Brazil, where he learned to speak Portuguese and loved the people of Sao Paulo.
John moved to Utah to work with his brothers Ray and Edward in the excavation and concrete industry for two years. John consistently worked hard doing anything asked of him and more. He made the decision to work for Halverson Mechanical several months ago, and excitedly reported on his activities at the Utah State Capitol Building renovation project. He truly enjoyed his work and those he worked with. On January 4, 2008, John was working at the capitol building when an industrial accident caused his death. John’s immortal soul left this world and passed through the veil to be greeted and embraced by loving family who will accompany him on the rest of their journey to our eternal Heavenly Father who gave him life.
John’s legacy to his family and friends was demonstrated every day in all that he did. He had a gentle nature and loving manner.
John is survived by his dear beautiful six-year-old daughter Haley; his parents Jo Ann and Raymond; his brother and sisters, Joel’lene Anderson, Anchorage, AK; Harold Welsh, Spokane, WA; Ray Welsh, Perry, UT; Edward Welsh, Mountain Green, UT; Katherine Newberry; Sardenia, OH; and his many nieces and nephews who loved him.
