Day is done, gone the sun, from the lakes from the hills from the sky, all is well, safely, rest, God is near. We have lost another of America’s greatest generation.
John Wilson, 88, passed away peacefully at the Wasatch Care Center on August 16, 2011. He was born to John and Elizabeth Wilson on September 21st, 1922 in Ogden, Utah. John served in the Army and achieved the rank of Private First Class. His tours of duty included North Africa and Italy. John was wounded in battle during his tour of Italy and received a Purple Heart for his valor. He was a member if the LDS church and enjoyed serving in the Ogden Temple and working at the church farm. He enjoyed photography, reading, swimming, camping, rafting, riding his bike and placing family wagers on the Broncos.
John is survived by his wife Larene and three children. Rick W. Wilson, John Scott Wilson (Eraina), Leslie Foster (Nathan). 11 Grandchildren , 6 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren, Sister-in law, Florence Wilson and Daughter-in-Law Jan Wilson. John was proceeded in death by his parents and 6 siblings; Annie, Alex, James, Agnes, Isabelle and William. Also, His first wife Dorothy McGibbon and daughter Linda and Son-in-Law Blaine Blakeley.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the South Ogden 5th Ward Chapel, 4380 Orchard. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, So. Ogden.
