John Roger Younger

John Roger Younger, Sr., 69, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 at his home.

He was born August 4, 1941 in Lynchburg, Virginia to Johnnie and Fannie Clark Younger. He was raised and educated in Virginia. He was transferred to Hill Air Force Base as an NCO, where he spent the rest of his life.

John served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant. He was a true patriot and he loved his country.

On February 10, 2001, John married Gladys Ballard Carson in Farmington, Utah.

He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Salt Lake City, Utah.

John enjoyed deer hunting and other outdoor activities. Fishing was John''s passion. Pariz was his fishing buddy and they were always looking for that great fishing hole. "I caught a fish this big... .."

He loved his family with all his heart "We will miss you, Dad, Grandpa!" "I will miss you my love."

John is survived by his wife; his children, John R. Younger, Jr., Janice, Samantha Lee, Thomas all of Tucson, AZ; Joshua Aaron Younger, Salt Lake City; Jondavid Cameron (Victoria) Younger, Clearfield; and a step-son, Mr. Paul Carson, Roy; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings Paul Younger, Sr., and Naomi Gilliam, both of Gladys, VA; Mary Jones, Brookneal, VA; Doris Carter and Annie Miller, both of Lynchburg, VA.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, one step-son, Michael Carson, a grandson, Kameron Jake Younger, a granddaughter, Gladys Victoria Carson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 24th at 1 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, with Reverend France Davis, officiating. .

The family will meet with friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. at the mortuary. Friends may gather at the Roy Christian Church 4347 South 1900 West, following the services.
