Johnston Loy Hurd
September 9, 1981 ~ September 21, 2021
Johnston Loy Hurd passed away on September 21, 2021 while in the ICU at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise, Idaho. The cause of death was Covid the Delta Variant Virus. The Covid virus took over and damaged his lungs that they were scarred, unrepairable and destroyed. For some people like John the Covid virus was more than real. It took his life.
Johnston Hurd was born September 9, 1981 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah, to his father, Jack Prentice Hurd and his mother is Maria Lynn Brown Hurd. He graduated from Douglas County High School where he was on the Track and Wrestling Team.
He valiantly served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eugene Oregon Mission.
Johnston married Amanda Beck in the Colorado Denver Temple in 2002. He was a choice spirit and valued member of the church. Some of the positions he held in the church were Counselor in Bishopric, Elders Quorum President, Ward Mission Leader and as a nursery worker in the Primary alongside his wife Amanda.
John's hobbies were life itself; he was " Happy go Lucky" always wearing a smile. Johnston grew up in Colorado so he loved the Denver Broncos football team and the Colorado Rockies baseball team. He gave his all in watching their games and following their stats. The only time John ever got loud was when he was watching his sport teams. He cheered for them with his robust heart.
Above all he loved his family. Johnston and Amanda are the parents of five children, Lorna 17, Janika 16, Cordin 14, Carver 10 and Cecilia 7.
Johnston is survived by his wife of 19 years and his 5 children. He is also survived by his parents, Jack and Maria Hurd, Willard, Utah; and his siblings, July Hurd (Paul) Robison, Layton, Utah; Jill Hurd (Ayn Aaron), Boise, Idaho; and Jordan Hurd, Monument, Colorado. He is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
The family wishes to thank St. Luke's Hospital in Boise, Idaho and all of the medical staff. Johnston was treated with respect and received optimal updated care and treatment. The doctors worked with the family and discussed plan of care, what was working and what was not working. They made sure we understood the seriousness of John's illness. The nurses gave their all with expertise care, love and a desire for a good patient ending. In the end the whole medical staff cried with us as John declined and lost his battle with Covid.
Johnston Loy Hurd was loved by so many people. He loved life, his family, and his dog Max. John is now in training in Heaven for his next mission for God.
His most recent job was with a Healthcare Service Group as an account manager. We would like to thank John's boss Debbie Bittick for her concern and care about John and his family.
