Jorjean (Jeannie) Ann Simmons
Jorjean (Jeannie) Ann Simmons, born April 9, 1947 to George and Dorothy Wright returned to the Loving Arms of her Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 6, 2011.
Jeannie was born in Scottsbluff, NE and later moved to Utah where she grew up and attended Davis High School. She then graduated from Weber State College and received her Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education. During this time she was swept off her feet by a dashing Bill Simmons who proposed to her in a corn field. Jeannie married him for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple on December 20, 1967. They shared an incredible life full of love and happiness.
They had five wonderful children added to their life and fostered many others. They were the joy of her life. Her life revolved around her family. Jeannie was a very devoted grandmother of 13 beautiful grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Jeannie was an amazing school teacher for over 30 years and touched many children''s lives. She has left behind many wonderful friends.
Jeannie served faithfully in numerous church callings throughout her life and had a love for her Heavenly Father. She was one of the most giving people and spent her life in service. She loved quilting and spent many hours making beautiful quilts to give to others.
Surviving is her husband and are her children Scott Simmons of Salem, OR; Shad (Kathy) Simmons of Clearfield; Toby (Mellissa) Simmons of American Fork; Josh (Alicia) Simmons of Syracuse; and Kylee Simmons of Salt Lake City; mother and two sisters, Laurie Noble, Andrea King, sister-in-law, Atsuyo Wright, grandchildren, Colby, Kyle, Shaylee, Tiffany, Adrianna, Sydnee, Alli, Roland, George, Maya, Nicholas, Bohden and Brenna and two great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her father George Wright and brother, Kim Wright
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the New Layton South Stake Center, 752 N. 3700 W. Friends may visit family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery
