Jose Cruz Dueñas passed away at home on September 3, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones, his son and daughters.
Our father was a valuable and upright man, strong and full of life, very quiet and shy, but always with a smile on his face. Even in his last moments he surprised us with his strength of wanting to live. Whenever we asked him if he was in pain, he would answer "NNOO." He never admitted how much pain he really had.
He loved to go to the "hot pots" and play slot machines in Wendover:
He was survived by his children José Dueñas JR, Lisseth Acevedo Dueñas, Tanya Garza Dueñas. His adopted children Maribel Sandoval, Jesús Sandoval and Luis Sandoval. 17 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Felipe Dueñas, his mother Aurora Dueñas and his daughter Gabriela Dueñas.
Jose Dueñas was an excellent father even with 3 children who did not carry his blood and he welcomed and helped as if they were his own, A loving grandfather, exemplary brother, friend and deeply loved neighbor. He was someone you could count on, a man of his word. José was a man of all trades and finally, he dedicated years as a senior supervisor, where he was able to retire.
He was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church where he dedicated every Sunday to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and Dad was a perfect example of what a man should be, he did not lack responsibility, reliability, and honor. He was someone you could count on in your darkest moments. He loved life and lived it to the fullest, nothing ever stopped him. He loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. In March of 2024, after a long 4-year journey in search of answers about his medical deterioration, he was diagnosed with PSP disease and was given no hope of a cure. We lost him much sooner than we expected, but we understand that God had different plans. He will be greatly missed.
