December 31, 1930 ~ September 30, 2017

SOUTH WEBER – Our loving father, Jose “Tino” Saturnino Griego peacefully passed away at the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home surrounded by his family early Saturday morning on September 30, 2017.

Jose was born on December 31, 1930 in La Madera, New Mexico, to Victor Sr. and Cleotilde Vargas Griego. He married Beatrice Holzer, they later divorced. He married Virginia Roseta Strahl on January 20, 1962; they later divorced but remained close friends.

Jose served in the US Army serving in the Korean War. He retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1987 and was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion.

Dad cherished time spent with his family and friends, and so loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; he always made them feel so special and loved. He was an animal lover and loved his many cats. He loved hunting, camping, and fishing in the Uintah Mountains with his family. He loved his home in South Weber and hosted the best BBQs. He worked hard sun up to sun down and had the most beautiful yard, flower beds, and garden with the best Anaheims around. He truly enjoyed his time spent with his wonderful neighbors; Jeff, Angie, Bruce, Ivan, and Tony. Dad could make a friend anywhere he went and did. He wouldn’t hesitate to give the shirt off his back or his last dollar to a stranger. He will be missed by so many! We love you Daddy!

Jose is survived by his four children, Kris Ann (Randy) Graef, WI; Sherry Robison, Mary Goff, Vicki (Alan) Tebbs, UT; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Kimberly, Jenna, Aryn, Andrea, Justin, Brandi, Joshua, Cameron, Aubree; 14 great-grandchildren, Eva, Tristan, Kristian, Ashlee, Dylan, Braxton, Isabelle, Triston, Rylen, Greysen, Lilyan, Carson, Brighton, and Tenley; and 3 great-great-grandchildren, Jett, Harlow, and Gunner. He was preceded in death by his parents, 7 sisters, 4 brothers, and great-grandson, Vincent.

Many thanks to Ed Miller for the care he provided our father prior to living at the Veterans Home. A very special thanks to the many angels at the George E Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home and Bristol Hospice for the wonderful care, love, compassion, and respect they gave our father. We can’t thank you enough.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Utah Veteran’s Cemetery and Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale with Military Honors. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the George E Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home or to his 2 year old great-nephew, Lincoln Trujillo, who is currently battling Hepatoblatoma Cancer at https://www.paypal.me/fighting4Lincoln.
