Jose Hinojosa Yanez
LAYTON a" Jose Hinojosa Yanez passed away on Friday, September 12, 2008 at his home. He was born to Concepcion Salinas and Juanita Yanez on January 25, 1926 in Tamaulipas, Mexico. His mother passed away when he was two years old. He was raised by his uncle and aunt, Gonzalo Yanez Garcia and Hercelia Hinojosa Arellano in Tamaulipas, Mexico. Jose met Liria Ramirez in Los Fresnos, TX and they were married in 1946. She passed away February 14, 1973.
Jose came to the U. S. as a teenager and lived in TX for 17 years before moving to Utah. He was a man of strong faith and belonged to the Catholic Church. His greatest joy was when he spent time with family here and in Mexico. He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad and was a certified welder.
Jose was a member of the Fraternity of the Eagles. He was a very generous man who supported many good things including his church, the V.A. and the Sherriff''s Department. He loved sports of all kinds, especially watching his grandchildren''s sports activities. He also enjoyed working in his garden and sharing the harvest. Jose loved Mexican music, dancing and playing his accordion.
Survived by his eleven children: Joe, Art, Sally, Eneida, Ladislado, Danny, Cathy, Jesse, Laurie, Debbie and Larry. 30 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Preceded in death by one son, Kenny one daughter, Marta, and one granddaughter, Shanel.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 9 a.m. at Saint Rose of Lime Catholic Church, 210 South Chapel Street in Layton with Monsignor Victor G. Bonnell officiating. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
