Joseph Harold Benstog

Joseph Harold Benstog, 91, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, one day after celebrating his 70th Wedding Anniversary. The world lost a real original when we lost him. He was born on October 12, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Isadore and Rebecca Green Bienstock.
He served in the US Army from 1943 to 1945 during World War II.
Joseph married Donna Bernardine Riddell on September 14, 1945 in Auburn, California, where they were both stationed in the Army.
He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.
Joseph worked in military procurement at Hill Air Force Base.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, David (Barbara) Benstog, Huntsville, UT; Patrick Benstog, Pleasant View, UT; Thomas Benstog, Porterville, UT; Paul (Lola) Benstog, Ogden, UT; and John Benstog, Ogden, UT; daughters, Rebecca (Dr. John) Reis, St. George, UT; and Laurie (Dean) Rackham, Ogden, UT; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rosalie Marie Bainter; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, parents, and two sisters, Margie Jaffee and Hannah Fox.
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 East 5550 South, South Ogden. Friends may visit family at a meet and greet at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
The family would like to give special thanks to Kathleen Purdy and Hailey Ward for their loving care, to Dr. John Reis and Dr. Nayda Wayment and their staffs for their excellent medical care, and Applegate Hospice, especially Heather and Elaine.
