Joseph Arlen Cook

December 5, 1941 ~ July 22, 2015

Joseph Arlen Cook passed away on 22 July 2015 at the age of 73.

He was born 5 December 1941 to Shelby and Viola Fairbanks Cook in Payson, Utah. He grew up on the family farm in Taylorsville, Utah and graduated from the “old” Granite High School.

He married Sharon Allred and they had three children, John, James and Lara. They were later divorced.

On 18 April 1992, he married Carole Nielsen and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They raised four children, Joey, Jarom, Hyrum and Carlee, in Clinton, Utah. He loved his family deeply and was proud of their accomplishments, always telling little stories about them.

He held several jobs, but was most proud of his work as a concert musician and music teacher. He felt great joy in performing for others and felt his greatest professional success was the years he spent serving as a member of the U.S. Army Bands and the Mormon Youth Symphony and Chorus. Serving there meant all the world to him.

Arlen was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Calvin Cook. He is survived by his wife Carole, and children Carlee, Hyrum, Jarom, and Joey of Clinton; as well as his previous family, and siblings Don, Bud, Richard and Voneen (Hyatt).

Viewings will be held Wednesday 29 July 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Thursday 30 July at Clinton North Stake Center, 1448 West 1800 North, Clinton from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m.

Interment, Marion Cemetery, Marion, Utah.

“I’ll drop my burden at His feet and bear a song away.”

Love and miss you.
