Joseph Louis Failoni, 81, returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 due to a long courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Joe was born on May 8, 1930 in Kemmerer, WY to Amaido Matt Failoni and Mary Colletti Failoni. He grew up on a ranch in Nuggett, near Kemmerer, Wyoming. He went on to graduate from Kemmerer High School on June 3, 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on December 3, 1951 and served his country until December 2, 1955.
Joe married his sweetheart Marlene Laughter on February 25, 1956 in Pocatello, ID. Joe and Marlene spent 55 years together most of which was in Syracuse, UT. He worked for Hill Air Force Base and retired after 32 years of service. He enjoyed his retirement years working and running his farm in Syracuse. He also spent his time in his many hobbies and activities. He enjoyed playing his accordion and many other instruments which he did as often as he could. It was a great talent that he had. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, yard saleing, woodworking, and doing anything mechanical. He could fix anything. He grew a great garden, especially his famous garlic.
His greatest pleasure was his family. He spent many happy hours with them. He and his loving companion Marlene took many fun and enjoyable trips together. They made many happy memories that will always be remembered.
Surviving is his wife, Marlene, Syracuse; two daughters: Debbie (Don) Hicken, Stansbury Park, UT; Tammy (Scott) Nye, Hooper, UT; seven grandchildren: Kristy (Hicken) Sloan, Jennifer (Hicken) Johnson, Jerame Scott Nye, Jeffery Don Hicken, Gregory Joe Hicken, Stephanie Nye, Casey Joe Nye; and three great-grandchidren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family at the mortuary on Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. prior to services.
Interment will be Saturday at 3 p.m. in Montpelier, Idaho.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
