Joseph E. Heath
KENT, Wash. – Joseph Edward Health, 59, died Monday, February 23, 2009 at Harborview Medical Center in Kent, Washington.
He was born December 11, 1949 in Washington Court House, Ohio, a son of Herman and Helen Elizabeth Straley Heath.
Joe was married to Laura A. Heath for 17 years and they had one son, James Heath. They were later divorced. He was Jolene Shaw’s life partner for 18 years and had two stepsons, Chad and Brandon Shaw.
He served as a communications specialist with the U.S. Army for 20 years serving in the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Ft. Richie, Maryland; Ft. Huachuca, Arizona; Parmesans, Worms, Schwabisch Guemund, and Wurzburg, Germany; South Korea; and Thailand. He retired as a Master Sergeant.
Joe enjoyed fishing, motorcycling, traveling, and exploring every road side trail he came across. He was a rock hound and loved animals and fixing things, especially home repairs.
Surviving are his son, James Heath, Ogden; his life partner Jolene Shaw, two stepsons, Chad and Brandon Shaw, and three grandchildren, Kendra, Elijah and Isaiah.
Also surviving is one sister, Janet Shelton of Ohio and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale, Utah.
