Joseph (Joe) Kenneth Page
Joseph (Joe) Kenneth Page, 79, passed away at home on Monday, November 15, 2010 from a long struggle with COPD from polio contracted in 1945. He was born January 21, 1931 in Ogden, UT to Kenneth and Wilma Egbert Page of Layton. He grew up on the family farm in West Layton, graduated from Davis High and attended Weber State. He joined the Navy for 4 years in the Korean War, served aboard the LST 836 and witnessed the first H bomb test on Eniwetok Atoll in the Marshall Islands in 1952.
Joe married Elaine Waldron from Morgan on June 27, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple; they recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. He worked in the electrical trade for 39 years as a master electrician working for Steed Electric in Clearfield and Murphy-Neil Electric in Ogden. He and Elaine lived for 30 years on West Gentile in Layton. He coached little league baseball for 10 years for Layton City, won city championships in 1969 and 1972 with the Cardinals team and spent years working in the scouting program with his three boys. He served in the Elders Quorum presidency in the West Layton 2nd Ward where they built the bowery that stands today. Joe also served as president of Davis County Wildlife Federation.
Joe is survived by his wife Elaine, children Steven (Susan), Larry (Ronda) both of Kaysville; James (Kathy), Syracuse and Lisa (Craig) Adamson, Layton; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, sisters Marianne (David) Noakes, Sharon (David) Batchelor and brother Lynn (Dorothy) Page. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
A special thanks to our mother for all the many years of caring for Dad, also to Tarrin and Rashelle from Symbii Hospice for the care and support they gave Joe.
