Joseph Alma Taylor, 79, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at his home.
He was born April 1, 1932 in Preston, Idaho to Clyve Lorenzo and Edna Morrison Taylor. After high school, he served in the US Army for two years.
On May 30, 1957, Joseph married Georgia Mae West in Riverdale, Utah.
He was the owner of Taylor Excavating and worked for Weber County School District as a school bus driver for 28 years.
Joseph was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as Elder''s Quorum President and 2nd Counselor in the Hooper 2nd Ward Bishopric. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple in 1972.
He was a member of Hooper & Weber County Farm Bureau and served on the board of the Weber Soil Conservation District and Taylor-West Weber Water District.
He enjoyed farming and traveling with friends.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Georgia Mae; three children, JoeLee Taylor, Kelly Rey (Terry) Taylor, Layton; Brenda Leigh (Kevin) Hunt, Hooper; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren with two more on the way; two brothers, Theo (Rosie) Taylor, Terreton, ID; Wayne (Jenene) Taylor, Carmen, ID; three sisters, Jean Foster, Shelley, ID; Maryann (Doyle) Charter, Washington, UT; and Faye (Edward) Martin, Blackfoot, ID.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Brent Taylor and Ellis Taylor.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 27th at 10 a.m. at the Hooper 2nd Ward Chapel, 5000 South 5900 West, with Bishop Neil Schultz officiating.
The family will meet with friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Monday at the church from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m.
Interment, Hooper Cemetery.
