Joseph Lawrence White
"Rejoined at last!"
LAYTON - Joseph Lawrence White, 78, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 23, 2012.
He was born May 31, 1933 to Joseph and Lurith White in Barnstable, Massachusetts.
He married the love of his life Irene Loree White on November 10, 1961. She preceded him in death in 2004 after 42 years of marriage.
He was devoted to the military. He retired a MSgt from the U.S. Air Force after 42 wonderful years. He then went on to retire also from the Civil Service at Hill AFB.
He loved hunting, fishing and camping. He loved the Dallas Cowboys! He collected scale model classic cars, Chevron cars and trains. Whenever possible he would travel back to Cape Cod, Mass in June for the Portugese Feast. He loved to make bread and jerky for many people. His house was always open and was often full of grandkids and friends hanging out on the weekends. He was affectionately known as "Grandpa" to many.
He is survived by two daughters, Brenda L. (Jerry Jr.) Lautenschlager of Layton; and Kristina L. Puls of Layton; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Lurith White.
His kind heart, strong shoulders and generous soul will be extremely missed by all whose lives were touched by him. He was one of a kind!
Memorial services will be held at a later date and announced in the Standard Examiner at that time.
