Josephine Nalder Hess
February 26, 1919 ~ October 5, 2015
Josephine Nalder Hess, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother returned to her Heavenly Father on Monday, October 5, 2015. She was 96 years old.
She was born on a farm in Layton, Utah on February 26, 1919, the daughter of Joseph Phillip and Mary Violet Keyes Nalder; the oldest of four children. She was a graduate of Davis High School.
She was a member of the LDS Church and a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
On November 6, 1937, Josephine married Keith D. Hess. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 8, 1946.
She worked in the Weber County school lunch program for many years. She loved crocheting, quilting, and making clothes for her dolls. Mom was a quiet person, always had a smile for everyone and especially loved little children.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Emmett Nalder and Larin Nalder. Survivors include her daughter, Jolene (Richard) Thompson, Geri (Jay) Fowers, sister Mary Christensen, 11 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Ogden City Cemetery, 1875 Monroe Blvd. The family will meet with friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Special thanks to the staff and friends at Apple Tree Assisted Living, Access Home Health and Hospice; Lisa and Shelby for the compassionate care they provided our dear mother. She had many friends at Apple Tree who assisted and guided Mother through the halls on her daily walks.
