Josephine Anita Ulibarri Hibbeln, 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 21, 1935 to Joseph M. and Angelica A. Gomez Ulibarri in McPhee, Colorado. Josephine grew up and attended schools in Colorado, graduated from Delores High School, then moved to Ogden, Utah. In 1956 she moved to California. She married H. Kenneth Hibbeln on April 27, 1970 in Carson City, Nevada. They lived in Ogden, Utah, Santa Barbara, California, and Bowling Green, Ohio. Kenneth passed away on June 30, 2007. Josephine moved back to Ogden, Utah where she resided until her death.

She graduated from St. Benedict''s School of Nursing in 1956, received her BSN from University of Utah in 1973, her MSN from Medical College of Ohio 1989, and her Nurse Practitioner Certification from Medical College of Ohio in 2000. Josephine was a professional instructor for Wood County School of Practical Nursing and Owens Technical College. She then taught at the University of Toledo for 30 years as an Associate Professor of Nursing Science. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the Ohio Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Ohio Nurse''s Association, and served as Chair of the Minority Issues Assembly for the latter.

Josephine was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, serving as a Lay Minister and on the Pastoral Council. After moving to Ogden she became a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church of South Ogden.

She found great pleasure in being a volunteer nurse at the Wood County Migrant Clinic. She was an active runner, walker, and bowler. Josephine was an active supporter of Bowling Green State University and Weber State University athletics and enjoyed gardening and Bible study.

Josephine is survived by her sons, Paul (partner, Matt Romaniello) of Kailua, HI and Christopher (Paula) of Seattle, WA; grandchild, Gabriel; brothers Richard (Rose) Ulibarri and John E. (Mary) Ulibarri of South Ogden, UT; sister, Patricia Brown of Battleground, WA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

A Mass for Josephine will be held at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 10 a.m. in Ohio.

A Mass will be held on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 10 am. at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 E 5550 S South Ogden, Utah.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah. Friends may visit family on Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
