Josephine Lopez Martinez
1944-2011
Josephine Martinez, 67, passed away September 21, 2011 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. She was born June 15, 1944 in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Vidal and Eloisa Lopez. She married Salomon Martinez Jr. on April 17, 1965 in Kaysville, Utah.
Josephine was a wonderful cook, gardener and hostess. No matter if you were family or a friend visiting her home, you were always invited to eat and she never took no for an answer. She was very generous and you never left empty handed from her home. If it was not something from her garden, it was a special prepared dish or "homemade tortillas". Josephine also loved camping, fishing and her Wendover trips.
Josephine was devoted to her husband and her entire family. Her life revolved around caring for each and every one of these members of her family; brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren and even her nieces and nephews. She never missed a birthday or holiday without her special and memorable desserts. Josephine devoted her time, energy and cooking for those she loved. There was not anything she would not do to support those around her. Each person fortunate enough to be related to Josephine benefited in countless ways.
Josephine left behind her husband of 46 years, Salomon Martinez Jr., children: Patricia Martinez (Ron Cooper), Sunset; Isaac Martinez (Donna), Sunset; Salomon, Martinez III, (Mandy), Ogden; three grandchildren, Joshua Vincent Martinez, Trinity Jo Martinez, Evan Salomon Martinez, mother, Eloisa Lopez, Clearfield; brothers, Steve (Debbie) Lopez, Lyman, Wyoming; Erminio Lopez, Lyman, Wyoming; sisters, Tillie Wright, Clearfield; Eliria Warburton, Sunset; Viola Espinoza, (Pache), Green River, Wyoming; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Vidal Lopez, sister, Elsie Mattingly, brother, Frank Roy Lopez, in-laws, Salomon and Ramona Martinez, Delfinia Martinez, Steven and Eddie Martinez.
We truly mourn the loss of such a beautiful and special lady. We are grateful for the time we had with her and for all the ways she blessed our lives. She will be greatly missed.
Memorial services will be held Friday, September 30, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Friday one hour prior to services at the mortuary. Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers of Intermountain Hospice and Bonneville Dialysis Center for the five years of care they gave to Josephine.
