WAXAHACHIE, TEXAS – Josie passed away July 27, 2010 in Waxahachie, Texas after fighting a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig’s (ALS).
She was born on August 23, 1948 in Chama, New Mexico to Frances Gutierrez and Edumenio Herrera.
Josie attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School and Chama High School in Chama, New Mexico. Josie leaves her husband, Allen Nelms, her memories to cherish.
Surviving are her children, Jolento Jones, Dontae (Erica), Ronald (Linda) Edwards and her grandchildren, Brittany (Keith), Ariel, Eric, Tambra, and Dontae (Granny’s Baby); great-grandchildren, Keihlon and Janyri, three special nieces, Nita, Sandra, and Eleanor all of Texas. Also surviving her is her mother, Frances Gutierrez Herrera, brother, Arthur (Linda), Joe (Pauline), Eddie (Bambi); sisters, Marie Neri (Mike); Sally Aguilar (Jimmy); Anna Whitlock (Richard), all of Utah.
She was proceeded in death by her father, in laws, Russel and Claudia Owens, Roy and Myra Edwards, both set of grandparents.

A Rosary will be Wednesday, August 25, 6 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Mass of the Christian burial will be on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St Joseph’s Catholic Church with Reverend Ken Vialpando, officiating.
Family and friends may call on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the church. A light luncheon will follow at St. Joseph’s Church.
Services under the direction of Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
