Jose "Ted" Martinez

June 12, 1943 — August 23, 2021

Jose Ted Martinez, 78, passed away on August 23, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Sunset, Utah. He was born in Monero, New Mexico on June 12, 1943 to parents, Todosia Alcon and Jose DeGracia Martinez. In his early years his family moved to Utah, where he lived his life. Ted was the third born of 15 brothers and sisters, and an uncle and friend to so many more

He met the love of his life, Frances C. Lopez and married her on April 4, 1964 in South Ogden, Utah. Together they had 5 beautiful children, three sons, and two daughters. Ted was a loving husband to Frances for 57 years, outstanding father to Veronica, Hemo, Benji, Sebie, and Vanessa and an amazing grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Ted worked his entire life. As a young boy he was a migrant field worker with his dad, siblings, and other relatives. He then settled in Utah as a young adult and began a family of his own working for Intermountain Refuse. Later he began his career with UTA, where he worked for 30 years and retired as Mount Ogden Operations Supervisor. He enjoyed his retirement by working on cars, spending time with his grandchildren, and sharing the gospel with anyone who wanted or needed to hear it.

The only thing more important to him than his family, was his faith in Christ. He was raised in the Assemblies of God church. He continued his Christian faith his entire life.

He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and watching NASCAR. He loved watching and supporting his children and grandchildren in all of their activities. However his true passion was working on cars and we all knew it.

Ted is survived by his wife, Frances C. Martinez; his five children, Veronica (Mario) Moreno, Jose”Hemo” T. (Nichole) Martinez, Benjamin “Benji” Martinez, Sebedeyo “Sebie”(Destiney) Martinez and Vanessa (R.W.) Montague; his twelve grandkids, Eric(Liddy) Moreno, Marcus Moreno, Jose T. Martinez III, Isaiah Martinez, Chaston Martinez, Marcelo Martinez, Jayden Martinez, Tavion Martinez, Zanoah Martinez, Addison Montague, Luke Montague, and Raven Montague; his 5 great grandchildren, Bella, Isaiah, Aryanna, Sunshine, and Mila; his eleven siblings, Joe Frank (Pancho) Martinez, Jose Alfonso (Lonny) Martinez, Joe D. Martinez, Johnny Martinez, Abraham Martinez, Edward Martinez, Linda Montoya, Arlinda Martinez,

Lupe Martinez, Esmeralda Martinez, Delfina Martinez; and his step-mother, Elisa Martinez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose DeGracia Martinez and Todosia Alcon; his siblings, Carlos Martinez, Joe(Luna) Martinez, Grace Gerber, and his grandson, Zachary Moreno.

Thank you to Ogden Regional Rehabilitation Center, CNS Hospice and a special thanks to the family members who stayed and helped care for our dad.

If you would like to personally honor my dad, reach out to your children, grandchildren, friends, family or those who are in need of any type of help and let them know about Christ and that they matter.
