Joshua Daniel Bell
SOUTH WEBER - Joshua Daniel Bell, age 23, of South Weber passed away un-expectedly at home on May 7, 2012. He was born in Logan, UT on September 15, 1988 to his parents, Daniel and Cathalenia Jones Bell. He spent many happy years with his family in Clearfield, UT where he attended Antelope Elem and North Davis Jr. He earned his Eagle Scout Award and in 2004 and later earned his Duty to God Award.
He and his family moved to South Weber in 2005. He attended Northridge High School where he excelled in his studies. He loved art and science and was selected as the Science Sterling Scholar his senior year. He graduated from Northridge in 2007 with High Honors and from the Medical, Science and Health Professionals Academy with an emphasis in Science. He studied the summer between his junior and senior year in the Bio-Science Program at the U where he specialized in the study of Poison Arrow Frogs.
He graduated with his associate degree in July of 2007 from Weber State qualifying him for the New Century Scholarship. He also received an Alumni Scholarship from the University of Utah where he studied and worked as an undergraduate research assistant and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in June of 2009. He was accepted into the PHD program in Chemistry where he did what he loved, research. He loved the people he worked with and was published in two international chemistry journals. His research centered around the synthesis of molecular magnets utilizing tetracyano ethylene.
Josh is survived by his parents Bishop Dan and Cathy Bell, 3 brothers, Adam(21), Zack(14) and Mark(10) and one sister Chaeli(18) and his pets a bearded dragon, turtle and frogs; his Grandparents: Marjorie Bell (South Weber) and Tim and Judy Jones (Nibley, UT); many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him dearly. Preceded in death by his grandfather Lee D Bell, his uncle Todd Z Bell and Iggy.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the LDS South Weber Drive Building, 1400 E. So. Weber Drive, South Weber. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
