Joshua Jones

Joshua Lynn Jones returned to his Heavenly Father on August 22, 2016 after a long battle with brain cancer.  Joshua was born on July 15, 1999 to Gordon and Ruth Jones.  He is survived by his parents and brother Theodore and sisters Miriam, Dorothy, and Rachel. He was preceded in death by his sister Micah.  He is also survived by his Grandparents Delwin and Maurine Jones and Grandmother Margret Kaul and 8 uncles and 15 aunts and countless cousins.  All of whom he loved dearly.

Joshua was an amazing young man.  His greatest passion was his faith.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved the temple.  For the last 2 years he would attend the temple almost every week.  Before his death he set a goal to go to as many temples here in Utah as he could and succeeded in attending all but 2.  His next great love was scouting.  Despite many challenges Joshua earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was honored by the Boy Scout council.  He mentored boys and lived the scout law seriously.  He loved camping and hiking and any activity that brought the boys together.  His cancer kept him from school for 5 years but he never fell behind and was so excited when he finally got to go back.  He had a 3.6 GPA and worked tirelessly to achieve that.  He wanted to do every assignment and in the last 2 years discovered a great passion.  Joshua took woodworking and was amazing.  He loved wood shop and made all kinds of projects including chess boards, and night stands, and cutting boards.  He always had another project he was dreaming of and loved wood.  He truly had the heart of a carpenter.

Joshua loved a good joke and was very patient with his brother and sisters.  His heart never let him give up and he fought his cancer to the end.  He never let it stop him and always found a way to do the things he thought were important.  He did not just live he lived well and loved fiercely.  He will be missed but leaves a legacy of faith and joy and love. His last words were, love you and thank you. He wanted everyone to remember family and the things that are important.  Joshua had a saying, “have at it”.  It meant go and do what you need to and do it well.  We will all be better people if we take a page from his book and find what is important to us and have at it!
