Joy Evelyn (Schumacher) Brown passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025 in Washington, Utah.

She was born February 10, 1942, to Elder and Elsie (Schmidt) Schumacher in Watertown, Wisconsin, and lived on a dairy farm in Jefferson, Wisconsin, graduating from Jefferson High School in 1960. She moved to Utah in 1965.

Joy met Arthur (Tike) Fern Brown at the Hitching Post in Ogden. They were married on May 11, 1968, in his parent’s home which then became their home in 1972 where they raised their two children. Tike preceded her in death March 19, 2003.

She worked at IRS until she transferred to Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 1993. 

Joy and Tike loved camping, fishing, and bowling on the Saturday Night Elko league where they met many lifelong friends. Joy also loved crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and watching crime shows on TV. She was a member of the American Legion Post 134 in Clearfield where she worked part time for a while and met many friends.

She is survived by her daughter RaeAnn (Brian) Brown of Roy, Utah; son Randy (Kim) Brown of Washington, Utah; granddaughter Brandie Nelson, grandson Colby (Mandy) Brown, five great-grandchildren, and her sister Lois (Brian) Hackbart of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Graveside services will be held Friday, January 10, 2025, at 2pm at the Clearfield City Cemetery, 1050 South State St., Clearfield, UT 84015.

The family would like to thank Ogden Regional Medical staff, Fairfield Village Rehabilitation and Dixie Home Rehab & Hospice for the amazing care they provided.
