Joy Ann Hoagland
WASHINGTON TERRACE - Joy Ann Murphy Ormond Hoagland, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, July 10, 2012, in her home following a lingering illness. She will be remembered as a loving mom, grandma and sister, with a wicked sense of humor.
Joy was born February 28, 1935 in Ogden, to Arthur Kenneth and LaPreal Wood Murphy. She was raised by her mom and step-father Fred Huser in Washington Terrace, and graduated from Weber High School. She had worked at Sperry and Fram, as a bookkeeper for Smith''s and Hoagie''s Markets, and retired from the IRS.
She was a member of the LDS Church. She loved to watch her TV shows, have family parties, (Thanksgiving will never be the same) and was an avid Utah Jazz fan.
Joy is survived by her children, Rod (Bambi) Ormond, Taylor; Gail (Laine) Bennett, Jodi (Kenny) Parker, all of Roy; and Jan Strong, Farr West. She was affectionately known as "Grandma Joy" to her nine grandchildren: Clint Ormond, Carly (Dave) Essig, Megan (Brycen Bertoch) Strong, Chase (KeiLee Janson) Parker, Dalton (Catherine) Bennett, Jordann Parker, Mackenzie Strong, Cole J. Bennett, and Austin Strong. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Meyer of Salt Lake City.
The family wishes to thank the outstanding caregivers at Legacy Home Health and Hospice. We are also grateful to her granddaughter, Megan, for all the tender loving care she gave to Grandma Joy.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 16, 2012 at 9 a.m.at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W 5600 S, where friends may call Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. and Monday from 8 to 8:45 a.m. Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park.
