Joy Norita Bowden Jacobsen

December 6, 1937 — March 17, 2024

Today our Dear, Sweet Mom, Joy Norita Bowden Jacobsen left this earth peacefully surrounded by her children, after a brief battle with Lung Cancer.

Joy was a dedicated Wife, adoring mother, Grandma, Great Grandma, Daughter, and Sister. She will be missed by all but live on in our hearts and memories.

Joy was born December 6th, 1937, in Altonah Utah, she was youngest child of eight children born to Oliver Leroy Bowden and Artemisia Foote.

She graduated from Union High School in May of 1956 in Roosevelt Utah.

She married her soul mate, Clinton Arnold Jacobsen on May 22nd, 1956, their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple Feb 9, 1962. Together they had seven children.

They lived in several cities, Logan, Roosevelt where they helped run Grandpa Bowden’s Dairy Farm, Sunset, Layton, Scipio and St George, Joy lived in Farmington Utah when she passed away.

She worked at Layton Drug for 30+ years where she ran the lunch counter, she became famous for her homecooked meals and berry pies, she also owned and operated Jakes Café in Ogden UT.

Joy loved to serve the Lord and held many church callings, Relief Society President, Primary President, most of all she loved being a scout leader together with our dad, they served as scout leaders in both Layton and Scipio.

They Served an LDS Mission in Cove Fort, after our dad passed away, she served a mission in St George.

She was the most Compassionate, Service oriented and kind person in the entire world.

You never left her home hungry, she always made sure she had something ready for you to eat when you got there, she would say, “see you soon, I will have soup and hot rolls ready when you get here.”

She volunteered at Primary Childrens Hospital for many years, and was an advocate for Five Counties Elderly Care, she made lasting relationships with many people through volunteering.

She lived up to her name, she was a JOY to everyone. She may be gone from our sight but will never be forgotten, her legacy of Service, Compassion, Love, and kindness will live on.

In 2018 our mom needed a little extra help, we were so fortunate to be able to move her to Country Care, Farmington Utah where she was closer to her three daughters. There She continued to serve others in her own unique way.

She was an avid Jazz Fan, through the good and the bad, she loved watching her Grandkids and Great Grandkids play Football, Baseball, Basketball, Cheer and Dance Competitions, it was so amazing to watch her beam with pride as she watched them.

We want to give a special thanks to Country Care Assisted Living and the Nursing staff, she felt a close bond to many of you. Thanks to McKay Dee hospital second floor nursing staff and IHC Hospice for taking such loving care of our mom, you were all amazing!
