Joyce Thomas Anderson

Joyce Thomas Anderson rejoined her husband Robert, son Tom, and grandson Tyler in heaven on January 14, 2018 at the age of 93. Joyce was born on December 26, 1924 in Ogden to James Madison Thomas, Jr. and Paula Theodore Ruegg. She grew up in Ione, California on a dairy farm, milking the cows, and delivering the milk. She learned to work with her hands, making or fixing anything that needed making or fixing.

She loved woodworking, sewing, upholstering, etc. Throughout her life, she made furniture, boats, coats, dresses, shirts, and much more. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing in 1947 and worked in the delivery room, surgery, and home health care off and on through her life.

In 1953, Joyce met Robert D. Anderson at the LDS Institute of Berkley, CA and followed him to Germany, where they were married. They returned home in 1957 with a lovely daughter, Sharon and soon gave birth to a son, Tom. They resided in Walnut Creek, CA until 2014 when Joyce moved back to Ogden to be closer to her daughter.

In addition to nursing and fixing, Joyce was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving mostly in Relief Society and as an ordinance worker at the Oakland Temple. She had a strong desire to serve others, and could often be found visiting friends and neighbors that needed a helping hand.

Joyce is survived by her sister, Marie (Jerry) Zenger; daughter, Sharon (Mike) Lloyd; grandson, Rob (Holly) Lloyd; and a great-grandson, Jett.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Shadow Mountain Ward, 5191 Old Post Rd., Ogden, UT.  Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.

We wish to thank the loving care of the staff at Mountain Ridge Generations and Assisted Living along with Encompass Hospice for making Joyce’s time with them so pleasant.
