Joyce Elaine Andrews of Riverdale, Utah, was born March 13, 1942, to James and Virginia Cowperthwaite in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The family moved to Ogden, Utah, where she was raised and educated, graduating from Weber High School.
She married and had two children, Lora (Jerry) Martinez of Roy and Scott (Susan) Anderson of Clinton and later divorced. She met and married the love of her life, Claude Andrews on June 14, 1980. Her family grew with this union to include Jeff (Michelle) Andrews of Wellsville; Kristie Johnson and Debora Andrews both of Logan.
Joyce was a very intelligent and hard-working woman, working multiple jobs before starting her career at the Defense Depot Ogden where she excelled at many positions including the role of Chief of the Cost and Payroll Section, retiring as a GM13 in 1995.
After retiring, she and Claude spent their retirement enjoying life with their many friends with activities including riding their UTVs, camping, snowmobiling, and touring the country in their motorhome.
For more than six years, she courageously battled with the terrible confines of Parkinson’s Disease. On February 3, 2023, our beautiful, red-headed, blue eyed wife and mother, broke free from this terrible disease to be embraced in the arms of our loving God.
Joyce is survived by her husband, children, and seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Linda Armstrong.
At her request, cremation was preformed by Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary and a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Washington Heights Church, 1770 East 6200 South, in Ogden, with a luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity to fight Parkinson’s Disease.
