Joyce Keele Beveridge, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and recently a great-great-grandmother, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at the age of 88. She was the second of five children, born August 25, 1934, in Bridgeland, Utah to Van and Dolma Keele.
Joyce married Robert M. Beveridge on her 16th birthday, August 25, 1950. Together they had five children. They were divorced 33 years later.
She loved working with the 419th Tactical Fighter Wing and the 388th Fighter Wing at Hill Air Force Base. She supported reservists and active duty personnel with testing and travel arrangements. She enjoyed taking homemade bread, peach cobbler, and home-grown garden produce to work. In the fall she would take potatoes and onions from her garden and fry them with hot dogs to serve for lunch. She made many friends while working there. She retired at age 70 in 2004.
Joyce developed and polished many talents while in her Kanesville home of 50 years. After retiring, she enjoyed her hobbies, especially gardening, sewing, and quilting. Joyce loved to share the produce from her abundant garden. Her legendary tomatoes were the envy of many gardeners. Other interests include knitting, crocheting, and reading. She enjoyed attending “Know your Religion” classes for many years. During the colder months she hand quilted numerous quilts while listening to scriptures and scripture stories. She had a firm testimony in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved her Kanesville 1st Ward family.
At age 79 she had a stroke that affected her ability to live on her own. She was cared for by her daughters, Karen and Kalee, in their homes for nine years. Their families have many memories they will cherish from the time they spent together. She then moved to a care center where she lived until her death.
Joyce is survived by children Kathy (Michael) Smit of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Kim (Wynn) Harrison of Layton, Utah; Karen Ball Barrow of South Jordan, Utah; Kalee (Brad) Lucas of Kaysville, Utah; daughter-in-law Kathy Beveridge of Layton Utah; brother Ralph (Shirlee) Keele of Price, Utah; 29 grandchildren; 54 (soon to be 55) great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter. Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Robert Kay Beveridge, sons-in-law Paul Ball and Kimball Barrow, parents Van and Dolma Keele, sister Phyllis Wheeler and brothers Roy and Joe Keele.
The family would like to thank Anthology Care Center of South Jordan for the loving care that was shown to our mother. She was greeted in the mornings with “Good morning, beautiful!” from the staff. They loved mom and took great care of her.
