Joyce Montgomery Buckley
LAYTON - Joyce Montgomery Buckley returned to her Heavenly Father, Saturday, July 16, 2016 just six days short of her 80th birthday.
She was born July 22, 1936 Roberta Joyce Montgomery to Heber Alma and Lila Elbertha Jones Montgomery. She grew up in West Point, Utah.
Joyce married Jay D. Venstra. They had two sons and were later divorced. She married David L. Buckley on June 24, 1964 in Dallas, Texas. They lived in Layton, UT; Iran, Spain and Germany due to Dave’s job at HAFB they were able to see many places. After Dave retired they continued traveling in their motorhome.
She worked for many years at Safeway and at the Layton City Offices.
Joyce enjoyed dancing and singing and loved music and crafting. She painted beautiful paintings, made macramé, flower arrangements, porcelain flowers and collecting beautiful things. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and shopping. But her love was her children and her “kids,” her Maltese puppies. She was loved by many dear friends and family. She will leave an empty spot in our hearts until we are reunited. But her pain is gone and she is with her parents and her sisters, Nelly, Leah, Loreah and Glenna.
She is survived by her husband, Dave, her children, Corey (Mary) Venstra, West Point; Mickey (Val) Venstra, West Point; Danny (Deborah) Buckley, Clearfield; Glenn (Judy) Buckley, TN; Dallan (Kathy) Buckley, Syracuse; Julie (Clark) Johnston, West Haven; Douglas Buckley, Joshua Tree, CA; 29 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, sisters and three grandchildren.
Family would like to thank all who have helped in any way for their prayers and loving service.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a. m. at the mortuary. Interment, West Point City Cemetery.
