Joyce Dawson

March 25, 1948 — February 26, 2018

Joyce Tullis Dawson passed away on February 26, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Joyce was born on March 25, 1948 in Ogden, Utah to Milo and Verda Tullis.  She grew up primarily in Utah alongside her siblings Joan, Carol, Barbara, Marion, Paul, and Scherelyn.  She spent a year living in Hawaii while her parents served a mission to help build what would become BYU Hawaii.  She had a happy childhood and enjoyed her family and school.

Joyce met her husband, Lowell at Weber State University in 1967.  They were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on January 12, 1968.  They lived in Chicago, IL; Evanston, WY; Omaha, NE; and Mesquite, TX; before settling in Rock Springs, WY; where they resided for 20 years.  After Lowell retired from dentistry they moved to Utah in 2006.

Joyce was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she fulfilled many callings.  She had a quiet, but strong testimony of her Savior and His Gospel.

Joyce was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2007 and faced the challenges and obstacles that it presented with courage.  We are sad to see her go but are grateful she is no longer sick and able to be free from pain.

Joyce was always a very organized person.  She was an incredible homemaker, wife, and mother.  She always put her family first and took great care of her husband, kids, and grandkids.

Joyce will always be remembered for her sense of humor, her selfless nature, and love of her family.

Joyce is survived by her children: Annette (Derik) Quinn, Ben (Andrea) Dawson, Sara (Ron) McGuire, Clint (Katherine) Dawson, and Stacie (Corey) Nieves; her grandkids Jeremy, Jordan (Melisa), and Megan Quinn; Michael (Kayla), Jasen, Emma, and Spencer Dawson; Hallie, Jack, and Tess McGuire; and Zack, and Sam Dawson.  She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Don, sister Joan, and her sweetheart Lowell.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main.  Friends may visit family Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the Hospice Nurses and doctors who have provided much comfort and guidance the last weeks of Joyce’s life.  We would also like to thank the Quinn family, especially Annette, for their diligent and loving care for mom, for giving her a loving home to live in for her final years.
