Joyce Johns Elmer

February 11, 1936 ~ February 4, 2016

North Ogden - Joyce Johns Elmer returned to her Heavenly Father on February 4, 2016 after a short illness.  She was born, February 11, 1936 in North Ogden to William Thomas and Celia Brown Johns.

She married George Hyrum Elmer in the Logan Temple, in Logan, Utah on October 18, 1962.  They were blessed with 6 children, Lisa Elmer, North Ogden; Thomas George (Lona) Elmer, Riverton; Alan Johns (Liesl) Elmer, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Susan Elmer (deceased); Ryan Theodore (Kellie) Elmer, Riverdale; and Kevin Hyrum (Janet) Elmer; Ogden.  She made cookies constantly for nine grandchildren, Braden, Kiera, J.T., Arianna, Joshua, Zackery, Ashton, Gavin, and Mason and for others.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as a visiting teacher, primary teacher, baptism coordinator and other callings.  She served as an Ogden Temple Worker and recorded Patriarchal Blessings with her twin sister for their Uncle George Brown. She served a mission with her husband to the England, Leeds Mission.

She is survived by her husband and one sister Janet Johns (Wendell) Saunders (twin).  She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and 5 sisters and one brother.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Ben Lomond 10th Ward, 3350 North 1050 East, North Ogden. Friends may gather with the family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. and on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment will be in the Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden.
