Long-time Farmington resident Joyce T. Goodrich, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, left this life in the early morning hours of May 2, 2023, at the age of 89. She will be greatly missed.
Joyce was born October 18, 1933, in Hiawatha, Utah, to Ortize N Thompson and LaVera Briggs. After moving to Farmington as a pre-teen, she spent a lifetime making friends and calling it home. She attended Bountiful Jr High and Davis High, where she graduated in 1951. She married her high school sweetheart, Phil C. Goodrich in 1953.
Joyce tended many of the city's children over the span of 20 years or more as her own family grew up. It made her smile whenever she saw one of her adult city kids and heard them call her by her beloved nickname, Joycie.
Joyce loved to garden and had a deep passion for family history, spending hundreds of hours at each. She had a love-hate relationship with her computer, for it opened many avenues in the search for ancestors that she loved, still it was a technology she just couldn't quite understand and embrace wholeheartedly. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, and many types of crafts.
Joyce is survived by three children: Craig (Diane)from Nephi, Buzz (Joan) from Draper, Nan (Larry)Christensen Woods Cross; sister Maryam Fobert from Granger, brother David Thompson from Cincinattti; 18 grandkids, many great-grandkids, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Phil, son Scott, her parents, two brothers, and a sister.
The family would like to thank Inspiration Home Health & Hospice for all of their loving care and support given to Mom and the family. Thank you, Regan, Paige, and Tiffany, for helping her fulfill her goal of getting a set of salt and pepper shakers from all 50 US states. This had been a goal of hers from her late teens.
We also express gratitude to Ashley Christensen, Joyce's granddaughter, who lived with Joyce the last two years, and helped her with everyday tasks. We thank her for her unwavering devotion, patience, and tender loving care.
