Joyce Bodily Howell of Centennial, Colorado passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011.
She was born January 13th 1934 in West Warren, UT at her grandfather''s home. She is the daughter of Ethel Elizabeth Hart and John Ed. Bodily. She was educated in Ogden City Schools, graduating from Ogden High School. She continued her education at Weber State College and Utah State University with a degree in Elementary Education.
She married Clyde E. Howell on August 2, 1956. They lived in Clearfield and Sunset, Utah before moving to Carson City, NV. They returned to Utah, living in Roy and Riverdale before relocating to Pueblo, CO. In 1970, they headed to Minnesota where they lived in Richfield, Alexandria and Mounds View. Their final move was to Littleton (now Centennial) CO.
She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During her life she served in many positions, including Young Women''s President, Ward Chorister, Choir President and a teacher in the Relief Society, Primary, Seminary and Young Women''s, She also served as Relief Society President in Sunset, UT, Pueblo, CO, Minneapolis, MN and Alexandria, MN, as well as a counselor in those same areas and finally in the Southglenn 2nd Ward. Her last calling was one for which she will be much remembered. She served as the Relief Society chorister and enjoyed sharing her love of music and interesting "music minutes" with the women of her ward.
She will be remembered for her shining example of love, patience, humor, strength and many acts of kindness.
Joyce is survived by her darling granddaughters, Alyssa Christine and JennaLee Joyce, and three children, daughter Barbara, Los Angeles, CA; son Alan and daughter-in-law Sandra, Vernal, UT; and son Robert Howell, Centennial, CO; three much loved sisters-in-way, two brothers-in-law, dear cousins and a myriad of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Howell, parents John and Ethel Bodily, brothers Blaine and Darrel Bodily.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 5th at 3 p.m. at the West Weber Cemetery, 1000 North 4600 West.
The family will meet with friends on Tuesday from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
