Joyce Calloway Sly

Joyce Calloway Sly passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on February 28, 2013. She was born January 2, 1934 in Camp Crook, South Dakota and made her home in Ogden, Utah for the last 50 years.

She leaves behind her husband, Sid Sly; her children, Valerie (Marion) Lindsay, Brenda Hall, Jannie (Tim) Tharp, Nina Rizer, and Chip (Maria) Calloway; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and her siblings, Nella Allen, Pete Davis, Jackie Jacobson, Don VanDewerker, and Nick VanDewerker.

She was loved by so many and admired by all who knew her. Her joy came from her family, Yorkie babies, and her beautiful garden, in which she spent endless hours. Her door, as well as her heart, was open to all and her love knew no boundaries. She never met a stranger, as she always made a point to get to know anyone and everyone. Her values in life were as meaningful as her love for her family. She always made an effort to look beyond any negatives in life and turned them into positives.

She is the love of our lives and will be deeply missed.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Alpine Church, 5050 South 1275 West in Riverdale.

Services entrusted to Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary.
