Joyce Farr Summers
Our loving mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend, Joyce Farr Summers, 82, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 from complications of Parkinson’s disease.
Joyce was born May 18, 1934 in Ogden, Utah to Glen and Inez Cazier Farr. She attended Weber County schools and graduated from Weber High School in 1952.
Joyce married James Douglas Summers on February 18, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had 33 wonderful years together living in Clinton before his passing on May 1, 1986.
Joyce was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she found tremendous purpose serving in various positions on both the stake and ward levels. Her example and commitment to the gospel showed as she served as a Church Service Missionary at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. She often mentioned that this opportunity was one of her most treasured experiences. Joyce had a deep love of music and a natural ability to beautifully play both the piano and organ. She spent 40 years as the accompanist for the double trio, “The Clintones.” She also shared this talent as ward organist and with countless church choirs and individuals who loved to hear her play. The joy of her life was her family and serving others. She will be remembered for her kind and generous heart.
She is survived by her children; Jana (Gary W.) Moore, Julie (JayDee) Horne and Douglas (Joann Louth) Summers; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Farr Bailey; brother, Gary Farr. Joyce is preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, sister, Nancy Lee Farr and daughter-in-law, Joyce Ann Davies Summers.
We would like to give special thanks to Joyce’s long-time friends and those who have loved and cared for her at Fairfield Village of Layton who brought her happiness during the past six years.
