Joyce Bitton Jones York

Joyce Bitton Jones York, 83, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2007, in Bountiful, Utah. Joyce was born February 23, 1924 in Rupert, Idaho. He parents, Bertha Brewerton and Spencer John Bitton preceded her in death. She married Leslie Franklin Jones on December 19, 1947. He died January 7, 1981.

After graduating from Ogden High School, Joyce took a job at Hill Air Force Base where she worked in procurement until she retired in 1989. Joyce then worked for Computer Science Services until 1993. Joyce enjoyed both careers and co-workers she interacted with over the years.

Joyce later married William (Bill) Byrne York, Sr., on September 17, 1994. He died February 21, 2007.

Joyce was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. She received a music scholarship from Weber College and sang in many choirs; she sang for 20 years with the Utah Oratorio Society. The family always enjoyed her performances of "The Messiah" each Christmas.

Joyce was fiercely devoted to her family and always took pride in their accomplishments. Joyce loved decorating, shopping and designer clothes. We are certain she is sporting the latest in angelic "designer" wings.

Joyce is survived by her son Chris (Audree) Jones, grandchildren Ryan L. (Lacee) Jones, Courtney Jones, Mason Jones, Leslie Jones, daughter-in-law Susie Fisher, step-children Dr. William B. (Suella) York, Jr., Susan (Brian) Casper, and Bob (Jenny) York. She is also survived by her siblings Jay (Venice) Bitton, Shirley (Gary) Deuel, sister-in-law Joyce Bitton, Dennis (Janene) Bitton, Linda (Dale) Burnett. She was preceded in death by husbands and son Kevin L. Jones.

The family would like to express their love and gratitude to the loving care givers of St. George Care, Rocky Mountain Home Care, Avalon Care Center and IHC Hospice.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where friends may call 9:45-10:45 am prior to services. Interment West Weber Cemetery. Condolences may be shared at www.lindquistmortuary.com
