Juanita "Nita" S. Allred
RIVERDALE - Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as devoted wife and sister, Juanita S. Allred, died in the early morning hours of Monday, December 6, 2010 at home surrounded by her loving family after a short but courageous battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
She was born March 21, 1921 in Ogden, Utah a daughter of Arthur J. and Mary Martin Sewell. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1939.
Nita married Ray H. Allred on January 1, 1944 in Ogden. Her passing was less than a month shy of their 67th wedding anniversary. They were the ultimate of sweethearts and an example to all of her family.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she had been a Primary teacher and Scout leader.
Nita was active in the Girls Scouts and the P.T.A.
She retired from the Internal Revenue Service and had previously worked at Hill Air Force Base receiving many awards and having special responsibilities.
Her interests included playing duplicate bridge, bowling, golfing, fishing and going to grandchildren''s athletic games. For over 30 years she and Ray were the ultimate "snowbirds", escaping the winters of Utah in their motorhome.
Above all, Nini will be remembered for her love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her belief in educating them early in life. Many a camping trip was spent drilling them on knowing their states and capitols. She was always one to give the practical or educational gift leaving the fun presents to the parents.
Surviving are her husband, Ray, of Riverdale; one daughter and one son, Susan (Randall) Robinson, Kennewick, WA; David R. (Debbie) Allred, Riverdale; five grandchildren, Cortland and Ashley of Washington; and Tara, Brandon and Tiffannie of Utah; six step-grandchildren whom she loved as though they were her own, and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings and one great-grandson, Heston Brian.
A special thanks to Applegate Home Care and Hospice for their loving care especially Bonnie and Merrilee. Also, a special thanks to Sherry Smith for her compassionate care.
