JUANITA HATCH

1924-2018

Juanita Sue Wilson Hatch, “Willie”, returned home to her Heavenly Father on Monday, November 26th, 2018. Born August 5th, 1924 to Bertha Allen and Thomas Wilson in Moundsville, West Virginia. Willie was a sweet, sassy, caring individual who loved (and fed) all she came in contact with.

She married a lucky son of a gun, A. Frank Hatch in Elko, Nevada on August 15, 1952, later solemnized in the Logan Temple.  Together they raised a house full of children that included 7 kids and a nephew and niece. Willie was a compassionate woman, who took joy in caring for everyone she came in contact with.  She devoted many years to being a nurse working at Holy Cross Hospital and in the OR at Cottonwood Hospital as the Operating Room Supervisor.  She was also the neighborhood nurse who treated cuts, fevers and other maladies.  She and Frank lived for over 35 years in Holladay living on their piece of heaven and creating beautiful flower beds. She loved birds of all kinds and loved spending time, both in Holladay and St. George, watching them and making sure they were fed.  She served in the Cottonwood 2nd Ward as Relief Society President and in many other callings caring for her friends and neighbors.  She and Frank retired to St. George where she has many friends.  Willie was loved by all who knew her and made everyone feel like her best friend.

Willie loved the Utah Jazz, fishing, her roses and reading current events in the Salt Lake Tribune and later, the St George Spectrum every day.  She was renowned for her baking, earwig shuffle dance, collection of Cool-Whip containers, impressive mustard selection, and open offer to cook bacon.  She had a great sense of humor, a loving heart and a smile that could light up a room. Willie was nothing short of incredible and treated her family as her most precious possession.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Bertha Wilson, brother Allen, sister Joyce, son Wayne, great-grandson Alton Wesley, and her husband “Beanie” (who has kept the truck warm for 21 years waiting for her). Willie is survived by her children, Sylvia Dominguez, Carolyn Norgard (Will), Mary Hatch, Bob Snyder, Fran Meehan, Bruce Hatch, and Gary Hatch (Mary Ann), as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Thursday, December 6th, 2018 from 12:00-1:30pm at the Panguitch Stake Center, 550 S. 100 W. in Panguitch, Utah.  There will be a graveside service to follow at the Panguitch City Cemetery, 290 S. Cemetery Road at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St Joseph Villa at 451 Bishop Federal Lane, Salt Lake City, Utah 84115.  Thank you St Joseph staff for your tender care.
