Judy Patricia Hale
May 22, 1943 ~ March 26, 2019
Judy passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 26, 2019.
Judy was born May 22, 1943 in Grand Coulee, Washington to Milton and Margaret (Brockman) Foster. She was raised in foster homes for much of her childhood and because of this her greatest wish was to have a family of her own. Fulfilling that dream began on November 17, 1962 when she married the love of her life Wayne T. Hale at Fort Bragg N.C. during the Cuban Missile Crisis, something that she said was not going to keep her from getting married! As the story was told their future together was sealed with Judy's amazing fried chicken and potato salad dinner she made for him on a high school trip. From this point forward Wayne's entire family treated her as one of their own. Judy accompanied Wayne for the next 24 years while he was serving his country in the U.S. Army. They traveled the world and during this time they raised 4 children, thus fulfilling her lifelong dream. During this time she also worked a full time job as a telephone operator for the Department of Defense for 20 years.
She spent her retired years as an incredible wife, mom, grandmother, friend, and last but not least, cook. Judy wanted her home to be a place where all of her family was welcome and longed to be. To friends and family her cooking was the stuff of legend and only made in quantities big enough to feed a small village! She lived her life to the fullest with no regrets, didn't pull any punches and loved her family fiercely. Judy was sweet with a bit of sass and had a straight forward "this is how it's going to be" attitude that defined her. She was truly the heart of our family and the world is less bright today without her, she will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Bernie Hale (her father and mother in law) and Agnes Hale (sister in law).
Survived by her children, Deborah Hale, Mike (Lynda) Hale, Chris (Julie) Hale, and Wayne Hale; and 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Judy will be laid to rest in the Quincy Washington Cemetery on June 8, 2019 at 11 a.m.
