Jules A. “Vick” Vicknair, 91, passed away November 28, 2007 at his home in Farmington, Utah. He was born August 16, 1916 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Jules A. Vicknair Sr. and Delphine Souders Vicknair. Jules married the love of his life, Phyllis A. Worden, on June 25, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah while assigned as a lieutenant at Fort Douglas and they shared a lifetime of love. Jules lived in Roswell and Santa Fe, New Mexico also Salt Lake, Bountiful and Farmington, Utah. He attended the University of Redlands in California on a football scholarship. He later attended the University of Utah. His military education included courses completed at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Provost Marshal General’s School, the Adjutant General’s School, the Command & General Staff School and the Defense Security Course at Portland State University. Jules served overseas in Europe during World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star for participation in the Campaign for Northern France. He was also awarded the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; Belgian Fourragere; Medaille de la France Liberee by the French Republic; and the Presidential Unit Citation. He also received service medals including the European Theatre, the Army of Occupation Germany, and the Korea National Defense. Jules served in the Federal Executives Association, Hill AFB Officers Club, Retired Officers Association, Fort Douglas Museum Association, D.A.V., V.F.W. and American Legion. He retired as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves after 30 years. Nothing was more important to Jules than his family. He was an enthusiast of all sports. He loved his dog and loyal companion, Dino, traveling, and good food! Jules is survived by two daughters, Julie M. (Jack Cook) Vicknair of Bountiful, Utah and Jill D. (Wes) Holmes of Farmington, Utah; grandson, Jared R. (Kelly) Jeppson; two loving granddaughters, Phyllis and Elizabeth Holmes; two great-grandchildren, Luke and Josie Jeppson; sister Betty Fiorina, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Preceded in death by parents, wife, Phyllis; daughter, Jo Ann Vicknair Jeppson; and sister Sally Wraase. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Monday, December 3, 2007 at the Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary,727 N. 400 E. where friends and family may call from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery with full military honors. Our family would like to extend our heart felt thanks to Dr. Scott Southworth and Pat for the love and care they have shown Jules and our family throughout the years.
