Julia Nareen Dalton Jensen

December 2, 1922 ~ August 23, 2015

Julia Nareen Dalton Jensen, 92, of South Ogden, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2015 surrounded by her daughters, Pam and Julie and daughter-in-law, Barbara.  Nareen will be missed by all who had the great privilege of knowing her.  She was born on December 2, 1922 to Martha Christensen and Arvil Norman Dalton, in Ogden, Utah.  She was the oldest of five siblings, therefore helped take care of her brother and sisters.  Her sister Gay said she could be a little bossy but always fair.

She graduated from Ogden High School where she enjoyed playing her violin in the school orchestra.  She met her soulmate Melvin Antone Jensen at the Berthana Roller Rink in Ogden and the rest is history.  She then married her sweetheart on August 19, 1942 in Ogden, Utah.  They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for time and all eternity.

In 1947 they welcomed their 1st child, Pamela Kay into their family and two years later their 2nd daughter Julie Ann was born.

Nareen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held numerous callings; but her favorite calling was Junior Sunday School Coordinator.  Mom loved visiting with the sisters in the church, serving in the temple, and spending time with her family, her sister Gay, and her close friend, Karen.

Mom had many talents that she shared with everyone.  She loved making quilts for her grandchildren, crocheting pillow cases and baby blankets, making porcelain dolls and making jam (sometimes very interesting flavors).

Mom and Dad always had a love of traveling with their family and had an abundance of memories after seeing many wonderful parts of the country.  Later on in life you could find Mom and Dad continuing their travel adventures in their motorhome, often with grandkids in tow.

Nareen was a very loving, caring, stubborn, feisty, and hard-working woman.  She held many different jobs before finally spending over 30 years at Hill Air Force Base in logistics.

She was adamant about living on her own until her health forced her to accept help in the home of her daughter, Pam.  During the past seven weeks mom was very grateful for all the love and compassion that Pam and her family showered upon her.

Nareen is survived by her daughters, Pam (Mike) Scott of Bountiful, UT; Julie (Gary) Stevens of Boise, ID; grandchildren, Kevin (Barbara) Jones and Kyle (Amy) Jones all of San Diego, CA; Carl (Anna) Jones of Colorado Springs, CO; Kristofer Jones, Bountiful, UT; K’Dee (Jason) Shearer of North Ogden, UT; Kody (Ashli) Jones of Pittsburgh, PA; Kara (Dan) Lewis of Ogden, UT, and Sean (Lori) Stevens of Buffalo, NY.  Nareen has 15 beautiful great-grandchildren plus one on the way; Andrew, Karlie, Carson, Zachary, Lincoln, Emmerson, Ainsley, Daedrin, Forest, Jovee, A.J., Gwen, Dorothea, Sonya, and Villette.  Nareen is survived by one sister, Gay Stanger, Roy, UT.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Don; and her sisters, Althea and Margean.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and aids of the Lakeview Hospital and of South Davis Hospice for the tender and loving care that they showed mom.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
