Julia Thompson

Julia Kathryn Dixon Thompson, 40, peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on July 21, 2016 after a courageous journey with cancer.

Katie was born on July 6, 1976 to Glenn B. and Julie K. Boekweg Dixon in Provo, Utah and was the oldest of 11 siblings. Katie graduated from Clearfield High School in 1994 and from Brigham Young University in 2000.

She and Robert M. Thompson were sealed for time and all eternity on June 4, 1998 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with seven wonderful children who meant everything to her. She made many sacrifices on their behalf. They enjoyed many wonderful memories together whether at home, visiting Disneyland or on family outings. Her family is blessed to have her as a part of their lives.

Katie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of the gospel and atonement of the Savior. She magnified her callings and had a deep love of service and charity. Her love and example touched the lives of many people.

Katie had a great love and gift for teaching music. She touched the lives of many students over the years and enjoyed helping them develop their talents and increase their love of music. She was also an avid runner and completed multiple marathons and half-marathons.

She is survived by her husband Robert; six children, Christopher Robert, Mary Kathryn, Kamilla Grace, Joshua Dixon, Anna Kirsten and Sarah Rose of West Point; parents, Glenn and Julie Dixon; siblings, Mary (Scott) Wolford, Peter (Faunice) Dixon, Thomas (Kristy) Dixon, Heather Dixon, Melissa Dixon, James (Erin) Dixon, Sarah Dixon, Lillian Dixon, Emily Dixon and Adam Dixon; grandmother, Velda (Hal) Kunzler Boekweg Chipman; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan; and grandparents, Thomas Boekweg, Doris Bergstrom Dixon and Dwight Dixon.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the West Point 18th Ward, 2865 W. 800 N., West Point.  Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Tuesday from 12:30 to1:30 p.m. at the church.  Interment, Clinton City Cemetery.
