Julie Ellis Haycock, 53, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at her home.

Julie was born March 1, 1964 in Bountiful, Utah to LeGrande Clark and Marilyn Peterson Ellis. She grew up in Logan where she attended and graduated from Logan High School in 1982. She attended Utah State University and Bridgerland Vocational Training Center, receiving her CNA certification.

Julie interned at the Sunshine Terrace while preparing for an eternity with the man of her dreams. After a short courtship, that spanned a mission, and a little longer engagement, Julie married Richard L. Haycock in the Logan LDS Temple on March 19, 1985. Julie and Lance lived in Logan for a short time, having two daughters, Melissa and Stefani. Julie and her family moved to California where Jocelyn joined the family. After a few years, they moved to Colorado for Lance’s work. When the girls had reached their teenage years they returned home to Utah. The family built a home in Roy on Julie’s Grandpa Peterson's former property. It was always a dream of Julie’s to live in a home on her grandfather’s property. They recently moved to the Herefordshire Neighborhood, which was also formerly her grandfather’s property.

Julie was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She fulfilled many callings faithfully and energetically, from Library to Nursery and Primary callings. She was a vigilant visiting teacher and loved her families, giving of herself and her substance every chance she got.

Julie had many hobbies. She was an excellent cook and whatever she made was the best ever. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and friends; she brightened people’s lives through their belly. Julie loved making candies for the holidays. She made candy and chocolates every year for the neighborhood and ward family. She would take an old favorite and make it even better than you thought possible. She was a woman of many talents crafting and quilting being some of them. She also developed a fond interested in essential oils, and had a concoction for whatever ailed you.

Julie enjoyed shopping and buying things for herself as well as others. You had to be careful hinting at what you would like for a birthday or Christmas present. She would get it, regardless of the price or the difficulty in which it was to attain. She gave the best hugs, and she radiated love with each embrace. Julie loved Diet Coke and drank it often. When given a tumbler to keep her drink cold, it was joked that the Diet Coke’s were never in the container long enough to get warm.

Julie loved her family and found new vigor in life with the arrival of each of her grandchildren. She loved these kids with every ounce of her heart. She loved to spoil them, because that's what grandmas are for! She enjoyed spending time with her girls and was a strong confidant for all of them. She was a stalwart mother that was always there when her daughters needed her for anything. She was notorious for remembering everything that would be forgotten on a family outings.

Julie had an uncanny ability to sense the needs of those around her and would give of herself in ways that no one can fully comprehend. Julie regularly gave service to others: She would watch her grandkids every chance she got; she would give food to those that were in need and down on their luck; and she would give monetarily to all sorts of charities, from Primary Children’s to the Girl Scouts, from the neighborhood kids selling chocolate bars and Subway cards to the Prison Fellowship annual drive. She was a true example of love and charity in the world in which she lived.

Julie is survived by her husband, R. Lance Haycock, Roy; children,  Melissa (Joseph) Hayhurst, Roy; Stefani (Shea) Sorensen, Clinton; Jocelyn (Ethan) Francis, Roy; 9 grandchildren; three brothers, L. Clark Ellis, Scott P. Ellis, Jason P. Ellis, and two sisters, LuAnn E. Willmore and Janet E. Maw. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Brent P. Ellis, and nephew, Ethan S. Ellis.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Kanesville Stake Center, 4555 West 4000 South. The family will meet with friends Friday, June 16 th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, and again on Saturday from 9:30 to 10: 30 a.m. at the Kanesville Stake Center.

Interment will be at the West Haven Cemetery, 2350 West and 1500 South in West Haven
