Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, June Carver Frew, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, at the age of 98. June was a woman of faith, kindness, and perseverance. She spent her life serving others with humility, love, and steady devotion to her Savior and family.
June was born on June 18, 1926, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Josiah E. and Adella Moyes Carver and was raised in Plain City, Utah. She attended Utah State University, where she was a proud member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority.
On September 20, 1949, she married James Daniel Frew in the St. George LDS Temple. Together they shared 70 wonderful years of marriage, working together to raise a family and serve in the community.
As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, June served in many callings and was especially fond of her time in the Relief Society organization where the sisterhood she experienced brought her lifelong friendships and great joy. She loved serving others, attending and serving in the temple, and was a proud member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers for 40 years. She loved genealogy and preserving her family history.
June valued hard work throughout her life and had many interesting jobs. She retired from DDO in Ogden after 20 years of service. June and Jim served a mission for the Church in Nauvoo, Illinois. They cherished the opportunity to make new friends and deepen their faith together.
June had many talents and hobbies that blessed the lives of others. June enjoyed gardening, canning, and tending animals on the farm. She was an exceptional cook, always delivering meals in her ward and to guests who entered their home. June loved quilting with her Relief Society sisters. In her later years, June set a goal to learn to play the piano. She eventually learned to play her favorite church hymns.
Of all her joys, her favorite time was spent with her son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. June was the cherished mother of James Scott Frew (Princess), and grandmother of Lisa McCormack, Nathan (Kadee) Frew, Gina Frew, Jennifer Whiting, Jacen (Kylie) Frew, and Tyler (Allie) Frew. June was proud of her family and wanted each of her 19 great-grandchildren acknowledged: Macy, Jacob, Gavin, Grayson McCormack; Kaden, Carter, Gage, Easton Frew; Jaxon, Brooklyn, Gabe, Kai Whiting; Jocelyn, Bodhi, Mack, Kacen Frew; Saige, Avery June, Adelyn Frew.
She spent her final years at Fairfield Village in Layton, UT. June found friendships in a loving community and enjoyed participating in the branch. The family extends heartfelt thanks to residents and staff for their genuine care and kindness.
June was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim; her parents and her siblings: Lawrence (Bud), LeRoy, Paul, Lucille, Elwyn, Wilmer, and her twin sister, Jean Carver.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service that will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. Until we meet again, we celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who truly lived with grace and gave so much to so many.
