June Hewitt Gruettner

March 30, 1933 — May 20, 2024

June Hewitt Gruettner passed away at age 91 on May 20th, 2024. She peacefully passed surrounded by family at her home in Roy, Utah after a courageous battle with a recently diagnosed brain tumor. June was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and dedicated her daily life to living its principles. A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, her departure leaves a vacancy impossible to fill.

June was born on March 30th, 1933, in Ogden, Utah. She attended Weber High School, graduating with the class of 1951. During her life she resided in several local communities including Ogden, Bountiful, North Salt Lake and Roy. Throughout the years June worked various jobs to help support the family, lastly retiring from Olan Mills.

She is survived by Richard C. Gruettner, loving husband of 43 years, her five children including sons Ross J. Whetton (and Dianne), Michael J. Whetton (and Pamela), daughters Christine M. Whetton, Tamara (and Brad) Silver, Jan (and Shane) Coon. All are children of deceased spouse John ‘Jack’ A. Whetton. Additionally, she is survived by 26 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren.

We find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who preceded her in death including her parents: Andrew G. Hewitt, Marie VanLeeuwen Hewitt, brothers Grant Hewitt Jr., Gordon A. Hewitt and Boyd L. Hewitt, sisters Elaine K. Hewitt and Virginia M. Koldewyn and grandson Wade A. Whetton.

June was a loving mother and believed in raising her children to succeed and accomplish great things in their own lives and families.

Mom, you have been a compass to us all our lives. Our memories of your tender care and loving spirit will live on in our hearts and continue to guide us forever.

Friends may visit with family on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary. 869 South 2000 West, Syracuse UT, and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Roy 27th Ward. Memorial Service to honor her life will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Roy 27th Ward, 3776 West 5375 South, Roy UT.

Following the memorial, graveside services will be conducted at the Ogden City Cemetery located at 1875 Monroe Boulevard Ogden, Utah.

Following the cemetery service, a family luncheon will be hosted by the Roy 27th Ward.
