OGDEN – June Connell Hoxer, 82, passed away suddenly from a brain aneurism Wednesday, November 12, 2008 surrounded by her loving family at McKay-Dee Hospital.
She was born June 6, 1926 in Ogden, Utah to Joseph Walter and Esther Danielsen Connell.
June loved life and packed as much as possible into every minute. June was selfless, loving and always put family and others first. June was tireless in her volunteer work with the church and community service to countless organizations, especially Pennies-by-the-Inch where she participated in fundraising for more than fifteen years. She had much more in life to experience and give to others. Her passing leaves a great sorrow in all our hearts.
On November 1, 1946, June married Keith Lindquist Hoxer in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on December 15, 2003.
June was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings especially focusing on music, playing the organ in the Ogden Temple. She also sang in the Community Choir.
She was a member of the board and two camps of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and attendant to the Queen of Pioneer Days. She served as a Pink Lady (volunteer) at McKay-Dee Hospital. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
June is survived by six children, Larry K. (Marnae) Hoxer, Roy; Cindy (Kurt) Eckenbrecht, Ogden; Esther Hoxer (David Hewes), Salt Lake City; Mike Hoxer, Chris Hoxer, and Aaron Hoxer, all of Ogden. She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Lyle D. (Gwen) Connell, Palo Alto, CA; and a sister, Clara (Richard) Schwartz, Ogden.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
