JUNE LORRAINE SKAGGS
June Lorraine Thompson Skaggs, 85, passed away April 23, 2008. She was born October 10, 1922 in Bishop Auckland, England.
As a child she was raised in Swindon, Wiltshire, England. During WWII she worked at the Great Western Railway re-routing trains around nightly German bombings. After the war in 1946 she moved to the Washington, D. C. area in the U. S. and worked for the Australian ambassador to the U.S., the International Monetary Fund, and the British Embassy. She married James Charles Skaggs November 14, 1953. After her children started school she went to work for the school district as a nurses'' aide having a schedule permitting her to be home when the children were out of school.
Upon retirement in 1980 she and her husband moved to Berlin, MD. She became a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Ocean Pines Chapter for 26 years, several serving as an officer. She was also an exercise class leader. After the passing of her husband in 2006, she moved to Bountiful, Utah. Throughout her life she enjoyed knitting, quilting, needlepoint, bridge, golf, crossword puzzles, tennis and traveling. She was a member of the Episcopal Church.
She is survived by two children John Patrick (Lisa Ann) Skaggs and Jennifer Louise (Robert W.) Parker and five grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister Beryl Dore.
Cremation under direction of Lindquist Bountiful Mortuary. Inurnment at Arlington Cemetery at a later date.
The family expresses appreciation for special care given to our mom by Judy Jackson, Lakeview Hospital, Dr. Raymond Ward, and the staff and residents at "The Inn at Barton Creek."
