June W. Squires

OGDEN a€" June White Squires, 99, died peacefully on Friday, July, 2, 2010 in Ogden.

She was born in Paradise, Utah, on June 8, 1911, the eldest daughter of Joseph Barnard and Rachel Ann Hubbard White.

She married Chester Ballif Squires in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 28, 1944. They had two children together, a daughter and a son. Chet passed away at the age of 91 in 1989.

June was educated in the Cache County School System, receiving a Bachelors degree from Utah State University. She also pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Utah and Brigham Young University. June was a teacher and a librarian in the Ogden School District for over 30 years, working at both Ogden High School and Ben Lomond High School.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Mt. Ogden Ward.

June, having been raised on a ranch in Paradise, Utah, always enjoyed the outdoors. She was an avid skier, golfer and horseback rider and traveled extensively with her husband Chet. June loved the annual summer vacation to Snowbird when she was surrounded by her family. She was selfless with her love and kindness. She will be missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who always looked forward to seeing Grandma June.

Surviving are one daughter and one son, Lynne S. (Dr. James W.) Starley, Ogden; Dr. Ray W. (Dr. Julia Larkin) Squires, Rochester, MN; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Private family services will be held in Ogden with entombment at Good Shepherd Abbey Mausoleum at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family extends their appreciation to the excellent staff at Wasatch Care Center and Alpine Hospice, who cared for June prior to her passing.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Utah State University Scholarship Fund.
