On June 24, 2019, Justin Derek Travis, beloved son, brother, husband and father, returned to his heavenly home after a valiant fight with mental illness.
Derek was born on April 17, 1980 to Gerald and Cherrie Travis. On December 6, 2007, Derek married Jennifer Timothy. They were blessed with three beautiful children whom Derek loved dearly.
Derek’s whit, sarcasm and dry humor would, and did, make anyone laugh. He was deeply spiritual and an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Derek served an honorable mission in the Resistencia Argentina Mission.
Derek’s commitment to, and love for, his wife and three children was unquestionable and eternal.
Derek’s outgoing ways and genuine love for his fellowman, created many friends for him, far more than he even realized. Derek was an avid fan of the BYU Cougars and the Utah Jazz, actively participating in social media outlets devoted to both.
Derek’s hobbies included writing, art, music and photography; he loved anything Star Wars. Derek gave the best hugs! Derek is already missed more than words can express.
Derek is survived by his wife Jennie, daughters, Gracie May and Hallie Jane and son Beck Maxwell. He also leaves behind his parents Gerald and Cherrie Travis, three sisters and two brothers, KC (Brian), Lance, Brett (Gretchen), Allison (Jess) and Ashley (Traig), father and mother-in-law Tom and Sharene Timothy, two brothers-in-law, Travis (Shalee) and Greg (Erica), 14 nieces and nephews and his grandmother Cleo Travis. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Penny Steiner and grandfather, Bill Travis.
The family wishes to thank the friendships made and support given at Alanon.
