Karen Bidwell

Karen Montgomery Bidwell was called home to a loving Heavenly Father on August 7, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born on December 24, 1944 in Rock Springs, Wyoming a Christmas Eve present to George William and Lois Kendell Montgomery.  She was the oldest of three children.  Karen grew up in the South Ogden and Sunset, Utah areas.  She graduated from Clearfield High School, the very first graduating class in 1963.

Karen was sealed to James Garland Bidwell in the Salt Lake Temple on January 24, 1964.  From that union, they had three daughters.  They later divorced.  Although Karen had a few different jobs, she was mainly a stay-at-home mom and homemaker until she divorced in 1990.  She later became a production worker at Autoliv until she took an early retirement in 2002 after her mother passed away.  Karen’s generous and loving spirit burned brightest when she became guardian to her younger brother Robert, who had special needs.  He was in her loving and constant care until his passing in 2007.  Known for her compassion and selflessness, Karen touched the lived of all who knew her.  She had many close friends who she loved dearly.  And no matter where her family lived, she communicated with them almost daily.

She spent most of her life in Utah.  Karen was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She held many callings in her wards serving the people she cared for.  She loves her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ, and she loves her family.  She spent every day of her life doing her best to do what was right.

She is survived by her three daughters; April Irene (Greg) Morton of Roy, Utah; Michelle Lorraine (Dirk) Shumway of Medford, Oregon; and Sandra Lois (Wade) Widdison of Clinton, Utah.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and her sister Jeri Kay (David) Koch.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother.

Our family would like to thank Intermountain Health Hospice for their care of mom and a special thank you to Dr. Carl Gray as well as his staff at Utah Hematology Oncology for their compassionate and loving care of mom for the last year.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 12, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Clinton 21st Ward, 1828 N. 3000 W., Clinton, Utah.  Friends may visit family Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Clinton City Cemetery.
